A Little Transparency

Hey everyone! I know that I have been MIA. Between full time classes, and full time work things have gotten a little overwhelming. In the midst of it all, God has remained faithful. He continues to answer prayers and show himself strong in my life. I am thankful.

On February 2nd, I turned 22. It was an amazing, but bittersweet day. When I was born, I was not breathing at all. Even the doctors counted me out, but God had a plan. No matter who counts you out, know that God will never leave you nor forsake you. In my 22 years of living, I have been through so much. I loved. I lost. I escaped life threatening situations. I was sexually assaulted. I was abused. I was lied to and cheated on. I was abandoned. I was suicidal. I had surgeries. I lost myself. I was angry. I was spiteful. I had a sharp tongue. I had low self-esteem. I have been through it all.

However, when I look back on all of those things and then some, I can truly say that I am blessed. During the times of brokenness and despair I truly learned my own strength. I learned that I was stronger than I thought. I learned that God was more than enough for me. I learned to be myself, and embrace all of my flaws. I learned that I was not always right, and that it is not what you say, but truly how you say it. Then, I learned that for years I was so concerned with being perfect, when everyone loved me just as I was. I learned how to love, and how I desire to be loved. I learned that there is nothing wrong with being alone.

Aging to me is one of the most beautiful things. As I have gotten older I have matured. I have overcome adversity time and time again. Because of all of the lessons that I learned, I am able to put things into perspective. I am able to push through, because I know that I have overcome worse. As I age, I become more and more excited about what God is doing in my life. I have learned to wake up and thank God for keeping me alive to do His work once again. I feel blessed, because I know that this year is bringing nothing but great things. God said it and I believe it. Be encouraged and know that God is a keeper.

A Long Week

This past week has been extremely tough. Every year right before my birthday, all hell and high-water begins to come. The devil is so predictable at this point, that his little tricks do not even bother me anymore.

The enemies job is to get us off of our game. You give him an inch of doubt, and next thing you know he has you questioning who God really is. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). God has a different plan. He wants to give you hope and a future ( Jeremiah 29:11). He wants us to have an abundant life. Every time the enemy threw something at me, I️ took it and thanked God. I️ asked, “Lord, what do you want me to learn from this?” I thanked Him for another opportunity to grow. Nothing happens without God allowing it, and I️ was reminded by that when He worked out every situation that came my way, but in each situation I was required to have patience. That is something that I am diligently working on. God gave me a test, but He also helped provide a solution.

With this being said, take those tough situations and grow from them. Try to ascertain what God wants from you. Take every experience and allow God to teach you something in those dark moments. God is very strategic and He will make a way out of no way. Be encouraged and know that God only wants what is best for you!

Dear Father,

Thank you for being the true and living God. Thank you God for being my provider, my protector, and my comforter. Lord, please forgive me for ever sin. Help me to be more like you, and to walk in the fruits of the spirit. Help me not to grow weary in well doing. Help me not to grow tired, but give me the strength to endure until the end. God, I trust you to work out every situation in my life. Where I may have doubt, please help my unbelief. I pray that you would open up great doors for me. Lord, supply every need according to your riches and glory. I love you Lord, and I know that you are able to do all but fail. Have your way in my life, and help me to be a light in the midst of so much darkness. Help me to keep the faith no matter what it looks like. Bless all those connected to me. Give them what they need. Save, deliver, and set free. I pray for protection over my family and friends. I pray for healing in those who need to be healed. I pray for jobs for those who need jobs. I pray for miracles for those expecting miracles. Have your way God. Move on my behalf. Grant me favor in your eyes, and in the eyes of man.

I trust you today and tomorrow for all that I am needful of. Lord, I trust that your promises will forever lead me down beautiful pathways of love. Lord, I pray that your spirit will guide me, each day my whole life through. For in every decision and challenge, YOUR best has been planned for me.

In Jesus Name,

Thank You Lord

Dear Lord,

Thank you for another day. Thank you for forgiving me for all of my sins. Thank you for looking beyond my faults, and seeing my needs. Today I just want to thank you! Thank you for a new day. Thank you for new mercies. Thank you for grace.  Thank you for my health Lord. Thank you for the mobility of my limbs. Thank you Lord, that I woke up in my right mind. Thank you Lord, for a roof over my head. You are great and worthy to be praised God. I just thank you that I made it out of every trial in 2017. I thank you that you allowed me to see 2018. I thank you for the overflow that you are getting ready to bless me with. I thank you Lord, for the doors that you are opening and the ones that you have already opened. Thank you Lord, for the provisions. Thank you Lord for your protection. I even thank you Lord, for the rejection of others because sometimes their rejection is your hand of protection. Thank you Lord, for hearing my prayers. Thank you for making a way out of no way. Thank you for being my provider, my healer, and my waymaker. You are faithful Lord! I am just thankful for who you are in my life, what you have done, and what you are about to do.

In Jesus Name I Pray,

Trust the Process

Often times, we need encouragement. We have so many questions, but not enough answers. In moments of doubt or heaviness it is important to pray, but even more important to reach out to other warriors. Recently I reached out to a fellow warrior, and she brought everything into perspective.

You see, although there are struggles that you are facing God is still there. Trials and tribulations are all apart of the plan. The enemy can not touch you without God allowing it. This means that He will allow the devil to test you, but it is not to harm you. Look at Job. Job served God faithfully. He loved God, and He lived a life that was pleasing in God’s eyes. However, the enemy was still able to test him. Job 1:8-12 says, “And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?” 9 Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason? 10 Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.” 12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.”

Now what you have to understand first is that the enemy was prowling, and looking to start trouble. God told him to test Job, but God also knew that Job trusted God wholeheartedly. Although the devil stole everything from Job, his faith in God stood strong. He did not give up on God, or curse Him. The enemy stole all of Job’s wealth, his children, and his health but God restored all of it. Because Job continued to trust God, he was blessed with an overflow and abundance. Get this, the enemy was only able to test Job because God gave him permission to do so. God knew that from his test would come a testimony. Going back to Jeremiah 29:11, we know that God’s plan is to prosper us and not to harm us. Job felt emotions through his testing period, but from the testing he was blessed.

When you are going through, do not doubt God. Thank Him for the plan that He has for your life. Thank Him that His intentions are not to harm you, but to give you an expected end. Thank Him because your testimony will draw other souls to Christ. The enemies job is to stir up trouble. He does his job well, BUT God does His job better. The devil is not stronger than God, and God will vindicate you from the hand of the enemy. Be encouraged and know that this too shall pass. God will give you double for your trouble (Isaiah 61:7).

In every situation you have the victory. You have to know it though, and believe it. Here are some scriptures to let you know about the victory you have in Christ Jesus.

Deuteronomy 20:4 says, “For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” This is ALL you need to know! God is with you! He is fighting with you against your enemies. Isn’t that awesome? We have a great God that we can pray to who will help us defeat all of our enemies.

1 Corinthians 15:57 says, “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of Christ giving His life for us we have overcome all things.” When Jesus died on that cross, He opened up the door for us to be forgiven of every sin.

Romans 8:31 says, “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” With God on our side we can not lose! There is no way that we can. God is all powerful, and His strength makes us strong even in times of weakness and despair. When we pray, God hears us and hearkens unto us. He is with us.

Then Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” This means that CAN’T should not be in your vocabulary. You CAN! You have Jehovah Jireh, your provider on your side.

Know that through Christ Jesus you have the ability to accomplish all things. You CAN have all that you are believing God for. You CAN make it through every trial that you are going through. Be encouraged!

Happy New Year

Happy 2018 everyone! I feel blessed to be alive on today, January 1st 2018. January of 2017 was extremely rough. I had oral surgery, and then a week later I cut through my flexor tendon. On January 31, 2017, two days before my 21st birthday, I had surgery to repair my flexor tendon. I was out of work for 12 weeks and could not use my dominant hand at all, BUT God. I kept asking God to help me to be more patient, and that is exactly what He did, so be specific in your prayers. He took away my ability to do certain things, in order to show me that it was okay to accept help. He took away my ability to write, in order to strengthen my memory. He took away my ability to use two hands in order to remind me that I needed to slow it down. I am thankful for how 2017 started, because as I look back over the year I can see just how far I have really come.

2017 was a year of lessons, but I am confident that 2018 will be a year of blessings. God humbled me in 2017. He broke me down, but built me back up stronger than ever. He took away my temper, and gave me patience. He took away my nastiness, and gave me a heart of joy. He took away my shame, and showed me His grace. God is faithful! I know that the enemy has been busy, and I know that you want to give up but KNOW that the tide is turning. Your test is turning into your testimony. Your pain is being turned into promise. Your tears are turning into joy. How do I know? I am so glad you asked. Psalms 126:5 says, “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.” Then Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and an expected end.”

Continue to P.U.S.H! Pray until something happens. Just because it did not happen in 2017, that does not mean it will not happen in 2018. Think about where you were last year at this same time. You were probably still believing God to do some things from 2016. Did He not bring it to pass? See, each year can be looked at as a prerequisite. We can call 2017 the test, but 2018 will be the testimony. I am believing God with you. Hebrews 10:36 says, “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” Continue to pray and continue to push. Be encouraged!

Not Perfect, but Usable

God does not call the qualified, but qualifies the called. Stop thinking that your past defines your future. No sin that you have committed can prevent God from using you. Once you pray and ask God for forgiveness, move on!God is not looking for those who are perfect, but those who are usable.

According to the New Living Translation, 2 Timothy 2:20-21 says,  “In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. 21 If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.”What does this mean? I am so glad you asked. This means that God is willing to use anyone who wants to be used. You do not have to be perfect, or pure as gold to be used God. God is not looking for superstars, but for anyone willing to be used by Him. We are all utensils, mechanisms of usage by God. He does not care if you are the newest or the oldest, but He cares that you are washed, and ready for usage.

1 Corinthians 1:27 says, “Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.” The power of Christianity is the message of Jesus Christ, not in the messenger. The Gospel is the message, and it has the power to transform life. A convict can give you a life changing message, as long as it was ordained by God. Rahab was a prostitute, but God still used her. David was a murderer, but God used Him too. Saul persecuted the Church, BUT God.

My point is this, once you come to Christ you are a new creature. Old things have past away (2 Corinthians 5:17). You do not have to worry about what sins you previously committed. They no longer matter. God needs people who are willing to be used by Him. He calls ordinary people who have real trials and tribulations. As He helps you through the tests, your testimony is formed. Then, when you see someone else going through it you can tell them about the greatness of God, and how He brought you out. Just like that, you have helped spread the message of Jesus Christ.

Satan’s job is to convince you that your past prevents you from receiving God’s grace. I am here to tell you that the devil is a liar. I do not care if you were a prostitute, a drug dealer, or even a murderer. God loves you and if you allow Him, He will use you. He will make you a great warrior for Him. Be encouraged!

Christmas Gifts

Christmas is my favorite time of year. It is a time of love, joy, giving, and most importantly miracles. The lights, the tinsel, and the bows are nice, but the most important part of it all is Jesus. During this Christmas season, please remember Jesus.

Often times we get so caught up in buying gifts, getting discounts, and saving money that we miss the mark. We forget to show the cashiers in the stores patience when the lines are backed up. We trample over people for discounts on Black Friday, less than 24 hours after giving God thanks for all of His blessings.

Christmas is about Christ, the ultimate gift. It is about celebrating God’s love for us by giving us the gift of Jesus. Matthew 1:21-23 says, “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).”

Often times we forget that the gifts that we are giving symbolize more than just a gift. According to Matthew 2:11 the wisemen took Jesus gifts at the time of His birth. It says,”On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.” They used gifts as a way to show love and adoration for Him. The gold was given to Him to symbolize Him as a king while the frankincense was a sign that He would be worshipped. The myrrh was given because He would suffer and die. What do the gifts that you give represent? What meaning do they have? When giving gifts, you do it not because you expect something in return but because you are grateful for the role a particular person has played in your life. The wisemen gave Jesus wonderful gifts, but who knew He would give one even better? He gave His precious life to forgive us from all sins.

Imagine not having a Savior to celebrate? Personally, I do not think that I can imagine that. During this Christmas season be sure to remember Christ, God’s gift to us. Merry Christmas! Feliz Navidad!
