Giving Thanks

Everyone has different thoughts on different holidays. When it comes to Thanksgiving I simply look at it as a day of giving thanks. It’s a way for families and friends to come together and celebrate each other and the goodness of God. As I have gone throughout this particular day things have been different. I just felt peace all day today. I found myself resting in God and just thanking Him for what He has done, doing, and yet to do.

I just knew that today would be a great day. I started off this morning serving food and helping out at a homeless shelter. I met so many amazing people. We talked, we laughed, we sang, and we served. Coats were passed out and people were able to eat all they wanted. One man told me that the pie was so good that it had to be one of Patti’s pies. I’ve never had one of her pies, but I would imagine that the pie was pretty great. Then as I talked to other people I learned that many of them all had one thing in common. They all loved God. So many homeless people told me that they thank God. Now these people are praying for an extended stay at the shelter. They do not have money for clothes or food. They are tired, but they still could thank God.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “In all thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” It says in ALL things, not some but ALL. As I continued on with my day all I could do was thank God and as I continued to thank Him He continued to show up. He just allowed me to have such a smooth day. He gave me clear directions, allowing me to be able to really sit back and reflect on His glory. So yes, today I am thankful for God and all that He has made. Be blessed and be encouraged!
